Vidyaweb E-Learning Courses strive to provide knowledge about increasingly popular open source technologies. The medium of instruction will be the language understood by the distance learner in India. Initially, we will start with beginner level courses for HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL and Linux. We will also introduce you to Open Source Content Management systems Joomla and Drupal as well as an E-Learning System Moodle.

The primary method of instruction will be through discussing the problems and questions posted by users trying to do specific tasks and then solving their problems through discussions and examples. Please do not hesitate to ask; how simple is the question does not matter.

Enrolment is open to all and you can join anytime.

Dear friends!

मुझे ऐसा महसूस हुआ की हमारे लोग अंग्रेज़ी पर पूरी पकड़ न होने की वजह से कभी-कभी किताब से पूरी तरह समझ नहीं पाते हैं.Read the rest of this topic(8 words)...

Guidelines for attaching files and pasting code at Vidyaweb
by Vikram Solia - Monday, 22 September 2008, 08:11 PM

Please follow the following guidelines for keeping the forum posts readable and convenient to reply:

Attaching Files
  1. never attach any bitmaps (.bmp) images. Instead attach .jpg, .jpeg, .gif and .png as much as possible to keep the size small.
  2. For single files, simply attach the files without zipping;
  3. If you want to attach more than one file, please zip them with .zip extension (not .rar and .7z) and attach to the post.
  4. If the file contains code and is less than 20 lines, please paste it in the post itself.

Pasting Code
  1. Please paste the code inline only if it is less than 20 lines; for codes more than 20 lines, attach it as a file with appropriate extension;
  2. Please use the setting in your text-editor for converting tabs to spaces.
  3. Turn the preformatted style on before pasting for avoiding extra spaces and to keep the code looking clean. This means that you have to past twice, first the normal text and then the code after turning on the preformatted style at the appropriate location in the post.
  4. Split long lines in the code into two lines to avoid stretching the screen horizontally because preformatted style is not wrapped.
Looking forward to your active participation!

Registration Trouble
by Vikram Solia - Friday, 11 January 2008, 08:43 PM

Friends!

Yahoo sometimes is sending the confirmation mail sent by Vidyaweb to the spam / bulk folder. If your e-mail account is on yahoo, you might like to open the mail and click on the confirm registration link. To ensure that you keep on receiving mails from Vidyaweb, you should click on 'Not Spam' so that the mail moves to your inbox and you can proceed with your learning experience with Vidyaweb.

Perhaps this happens because my account is on gmail and yahoo tends to store mails from gmail in the bulk / spam account.

Looking forward to your active participation on Vidyaweb.
